The second aspect of food preparation photography I find interesting is the time-lapse aspect. If you stick with the cook throughout the whole prep process, you can see the food in all its various stages as it's assembled.

For example, this post contains a series of a pizza being put together. These start with only a base, sauce, and some basil; this part of the process has a kind of minimalist beauty about it. Continuing, cheese, sausage, onions, and finally more cheese are added to create the finished pizza, ready to be cooked. Ideally, the viewer is drawn in by this process and is thus more invested in the final product. And, similar to Part 1, the human element is either present or strongly implied by the process of creation.

Partly because I was so drawn in by the process, I forgot to take any photos of the cooked pizza. If these photos can make other people eat the pizza as much as I wanted to, then they'll have done their work.
